Went to the Lagoon today, because it's my day off and I can, looking for an alligator to photograph. The only one I found was in a kids playground.
Then I parked at one of my favorite spots.
Spotted a hot girl kayaking.
And this is the bridge I cross over to and from work, in a narrow bike lane. Just can't wait to get knocked off it.
Here's the stats on that bridge:
I just sent my employer a proposal for the end of this season as Pool Monitor at the Purple Parrot:
It's getting really slow at the Parrot, Bud's working 11 to 7 today (Thur) and I'm doing the same on Saturday. Shelby and I have a split shift on Friday but I don't know if she want's to work it. After that, I'm on 11-4 Mon (10th) thru Mon (17th) which is the end of the pay period, with the exceptions of Emily on Tue (12th) and Friday (15th). Bud's basically done, which leaves the evenings uncovered all of those days. Personally, I'm moving to a trailer park in Lillian, AL. I set it up for a Sep 1st move-in, but I could change that to an Aug 18th (Mon) move-in, if the company decides to shut this down early. I really don't want to work a bunch of eight hour days, too old. And riding my Trike over that bridge at dusk, even with lights, is risky as hell. But if you need me I will, until the 17th, at which point I'm done. If we get a stand-in to replace Bud through the month, I'll do my part with 5 hour shifts, and finish out on Sep 1st. Your dedicated employee, Jim.
I'm ready to get out of this rundown trailer I'm living in. I'm tired of sleeping, working out and just living on an angle. I really don't want to pee in a bottle throughout the night anymore, or base my day on where I take my mid-morning shit. I need somewhere I can live like a real man again, not the old guy surviving in a trailer around people that really don't want him there.
Lillian, AL looks great. Riley's going to buy a trailer and I'm making the monthly payments. Now I just need to finish this job, and figure out a means to get there.
If I finish the job mid-month, instead of asking Dan and Shelby for half my $600 rent back, I'll give $300 to Dan, so we can load my stuff in the back of his truck, go pick up the trailer and move me to Lillian. If it's the end of the month, I can either get Dan to do it, or hire someone for $300.
I'll miss the dogs a lot, and the chickens. Other than that I can't wait to get to Lillian, AL.
I'm working until 1900 next Saturday night, and it will be the first time I've ridden home over the narrow bridge, other than the daytime.
I have front and rear lights on my trike, just never looked up how to turn them on. So instead of finding the manual and digging down, I just asked my buddy Copilot AI.
He said hold the Plus key down for a couple of seconds to turn them on, and do the same to turn them off. I went out to my trike and damned if he wasn't right. And they look great!
I made the most of this morning, being the first day off I've had in a while.
The first thing I had to do was buy some black ankle socks at the Dollar General. The last pair I had got soaked, and they stank so I tossed them. This left my bare toes sticking out from the holes in my only pair of shoes.
There's a really sweet older lady at the dollar store, she's served me many times now, so I asked about socks and she sent me down row 3. She's always smiling, has a great personality and say's have a blessed day instead of goodbye.
As I was getting my trike ready to head to Winn-Dixie for my main shop, I noticed they had some nice Coolers out front. She had come outside so I asked if I could try one on my front basket, it fit perfect so I went back in and bought it. It was $25 but she used a coupon to bring it down to $21.
As I put it on my basket I asked her if they had small straps to tie it down with. They did, she went inside and grabbed them and they worked perfectly. By the time I made it back to the register she had used her own card and bought them for me, because someone had just shown up with a full cart of stuff.
This lady, I don't know her name, yet, defines great service, and kindness. After I finished my shop I bought her a small bunch of flowers and dropped them by to her on the way home. She was busy but smiled broadly and said Have a Blessed Day!
...and the cooler was full of cold stuff from the market.

...and here's Zinny.
I've been working a lot lately and I'm looking forward to hitting the Lagoon next Wednesday for a photo shoot.
I woke up at midnight last night, which is unusual because I've been sleeping and dreaming so well lately, and freaked out. Where am I going to shop for food?
I'm working a bunch of Pool shifts this month, building up my cash, and then moving to Lillian, AL. It's a small little place along the beach, across the water from here, over the Hwy 98 (Ala 42 - Fl 30) bridge.
There ain't no grocery stores within riding distance on that Alabama side. There's also no way in hell I'm going to ask Shelby to drive over and help me shop.
So I did some research this morning and discovered Greer's Market, over the bridge through Paradise Beach, and it's only 3.3 miles away. That's less than my commute to work at the Parrot, and I've got bridge hopping down on the trike. In fact, this one's bike path looks much roomier.
Greer's is a small chain, and they look great. I've found my new market, and the run over to the Florida side looks fun and safe, with a great bike path the whole way.
Beat's the hell out of Dollar General!
